Our original VL was 1.60 which was on floppy, with upgrades to 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0. My new lap-top does not have a floppy drive - I managed to get around it by sharing the floppy drive on my networked office computer and connecting across the wireless network. Considering that there may be others in out team who also do not have a floppy drive on their PC, could I copy the 1.60 files onto a USB memory stick and fool it that way??
I must also comment that when I registered my lap-top copy, I assumed that when it asked for Serial Number I put the CD code in, I ticked the Team Licence and left the next bit blank and it still accepted it. Have I just overwritten the database, or will it work out that this second registration with the same serial number was a team licence?[/p]

Vis Lit on Mac

Spent the day with the good lady vicar's new Macbook loading up VMwares Fusion, her old copy of XP, Visual Liturgy Live and OpenOffice (xp) so she can open in a WP and print out services as brochures really easily.

...and it works.

Though I have a request to make this sweet install complete; can someone post a pretty .png of 256X256 with transparent bits to sit on the Mac Dock. The problem is that VL Live is trying to install Microsoft software components that VL Live needs in order to run but the VL Live installer can't find the file it needs.
Here are some instructions for how to deal with this error.
1. Open My Computer or Windows explorer and navigate in the left-hand side to the drive which is labelled 'VL LIVE Upgrade', (as in windowsexplorer.jpg attached). If you can't automatically see your screen divided as in the picture, click on 'Folders' to enable you to see the tree structure of files.

2. Using the mouse, click on the plus sign to open up the folders until you can see the folder called 'dotnetfx'. You should see 'dotnetfx' on the right.

3. Double click on the file and it will run and you will see some Microsoft software being installed.

4. Navigate back to the 'VL LIVE Upgrade' folder (as shown in the donetfx2.jpg attached) and double click on the 'setup' program on the right.

This will install VL Live correctly.

Error: This login name is already in use by a different user.

Hi Tim
I'm receiving this error:

This login name is already in use by a different user.If you have registered using this login name before, please log in using the username and your original password. The form will normally pop up each time VLL is loaded if you are un-registered but you can access the registration form through the file menu in Visual Liturgy itself.

Please make sure:

1. You are filling in your Visual Liturgy Live serial number into the allocated field. The serial number can be found on the label attached to the CD envelope in the Visual Liturgy box and always begins VL50CW… Please do not enter your serial number for Visual Liturgy 4 as this will not be successful.
2. You are not filling in the key number field at the bottom of the screen. This will get filled in once the form has been submitted and registration has been successful.
3. Your password meets the guidelines for security; it should contain between 6 and 12 characters including at least one upper-case character, and one number.
4. You are regsitered before you try to set your team licence as you need your log in name and password to be able to log into the Visual Liturgy Live website. And will VL always require the CD to run? Can I simply uninstall it or will that mean that I lose my varied and assorted collection of additional texts in the process?

b) having created various collects etc for Vigil Services, how do I get them to come up in the browser as options for next year's variation, without having to search for an item name that I will almost certainly have forgotten by then?

Keep up the good work!

Stephen Jennings
