VL Agent - wrong readings

Have just started to use VL Agent and am having a problem with the Bible readings.

When I open a version of Morning Prayer in VL Agent, I get the correct psalm and OT/NT readings. But when I open an appropriate version of Evening Prayer in Agent, I get the correct psalm but the same OT/NT readings as Morning Prayer, rather than the EP readings.

If I create a service using the SAME template in full VL mode, the correct readings are chosen for Evening Prayer.

Is there something I have missed??

NRSV readings are only Year A but we are now in Year B

Epiphany 3 (22/1/2012) gospel is John 2.1-11 in the Lectionary Planner.
My calendar runs from 27/11/2011 to 26/11/2012 and the selected Lectionary is Common Worship.
However the text of the reading is that from Year A starting
'On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee ...'
and not Year B, which starts
'There was a wedding in Cana of Galilee ...'

I have attached relevant screenshots of the Lectionary Planner.

BTW I recently updated in the forlorn hope that maybe the Lectionary content needs to be updated for each year. I may have done this incorrectly as it was a rather muddled interface and left me unsure which update option to choose.

I have reloaded VL Live as I have a new computer (64 bit window 7 professional) and when I open VL Live or VL Agent, it cannot find any readings or Collects.

I have had VL LIve operating quite happily on 64 bit PCs before but I can't seem to access the database of Collects in Agent or Live

Please help!!

How can I get the NRSV back, please?

Weekday lectionary

I don't seem to find the weekday lections either automatically inserted into the 'smart' Morning and Evening Prayer, or available via the diaresis boxes. Are they there to be found (and if so how) or just not there (in which case, why not, and are there plans to supply them)?

Transferring Diary entries to a new computer

Hi,

I have sucessfully installed VL on my new computer and transferred over the lectionary plan. I would also like to transfer over the diary entries I have made in the calendar, but am unable to find a way of doing this. Can anyone help? (I was wondering if it were possible to identify the calendar file and simply replace the one on the new computer with the one from the old one, but I don't know what it's called or if this will work).

Multi-user networking

We have three people in our team who create and develop services with a total of 5 licenses, but until now we have used separate installs on our PCs, each with its own database. This is proving to be unworkable, as we need to move to the location where the service has been created before we can preview it and make adjustments. This leads to solo working, which is really not a good basis for teamwork.

We are sure lots of people have worked out what to do, but have failed to find the right posts in the support forum, or advice in documentation. Maybe we are blind! Can anyone set us straight?

We would much rather use a shared database, or have an easy and unambiguous way of transferring services from one PC to another.

As we work in separate locations, we could either connect by VPN to the church; use FTP to transfer large files; or synchronise to a service such as Dropbox. Is there any best practice for team sharing of VL?

Importing or Sync Vislit into Google Calendar

Is there any way of exporting the lectionary as a calendar file? I've tried exporting the lectionary as a .txt file, opening that in Excel and converting it into a comma delimited .csv file. However that doesn't create a calendar that is importable to Google or Yahoo Calendar.

Sunday "Second Service" readings

How do I get Evensong to load with the "Second Service" series of readings? I need Holy Communion to load with the "Principal Service" readings, but our Sunday evening service needs the Second Service readings.

VisLit 3 would at least give the references for these (though not the full text). It is probably obvious, but I have not been able to work out how to get even these references in the new version.

Calendar Update to Methodist Worship

I had already had Visual Liturgy installed, with the Methodist material, but noting that the calendar was about to run out, I upgraded to Visual Liturgy Live and installed the calendar update, which worked fine with the Common Worship elements of Visual Liturgy, but left the Methodist elements untouched. How can I get the updated calendar to work with the Methodist Worship material.

Exciting Holiness

When selecting/printing lectionary material for saints days (festivals and lesser festivals) VL doesn't always give the readings as set in Exciting Holiness. Is Exciting Holiness incorporated into VL or not? If not may we ask for it to be included with the set lections for the relevant persons.

Adding 2011 lectionary

I am unable to access the 2011 lectionary - I have fully updated using the online update and my system shows that Calendar update is installed and up to date. However, there are no readings, collects etc appearing in the lectionary planner or in the service templates - do I need to do something else for my programme to integrate these fully.

NB. We have a team licence and I did this update successfully on the "master" copy in our parish office but we have been unable to do the update on any of the three subsidiary users in our team. The download appears to proceed OK but there is no content at the end of it!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

If I follow other links I get similar errors but with the number changed.

Any ideas why I have this problem?

I store my sermons using the Proper number, where appropriate, and not the umpteenth Sunday after Trinity.
Are the Proper numbers stored anywhere in the data?

Lectionary Planning to Excel

Has anyone any idea for how to do a macro to change the new lectionary planniner export format?
VL has improved in that you can now do a csv export to excel however they have kept to the old format rather than producing a grid they have just gone line by line

I have readings in a grid: viz a viz column 1 which sunday column 2 first reading column 3 second reading column 4 psalm and a new row for each service. Has anyone been able to do this?

How do I find "Prayer during the Day"?

I have just upgraded to VLL from VL4 and I understood that Prayer during the Day was available, however I cannot find it anywhere. It has been suggested that I should have "Daily Prayer" in the list of templates but I don't. Anyone any suggestions? Thanks.

Move service / template to another PC

Synchronize Vislual Liturgy with MSOutlook Calender/PDA

Moving VL Live to another computer

My old XP{ system has problems. A new one is being built and I also have a laptop. I would like to move VL Live on to one of these and avoid a total reinstall or at least minimize the work needed. So can someone who knows what to do e-mail me and or put details in here. At present I am not got time to search out old notes, because I have a work problem which needs my attention.

I have a personal copy of VL Live - I am the only user. However the license details say licensed to the benefice of xxx, vvv, aaa, ... etc..

I would like to correct this. The [b]BIG[/b] question is how?

Visual Liturgy for Methodist Worship

I am using Visual Liturgy Live and have just added the Methodist Module 4.0 for existing users of Visual Liturgy 4.0 using the Import Module function.

All the Methodist Services are now available.

However, I cannot find the Epworth Companions to the Revised Common Lectionary which the CD back cover says are part of the module content.

Usage Reports for Hymns etc

At one time, I used to be able to record hymns etc in a usage report, but since we've had Visual Liturgy Live I haven't been able to find this feature and the help notes don't seem to correspond to my version of the software. Does anyone know what to do?

On another matter when I down load the latest software update and then run it, I get an error message that tells me it can't replace a file I already have, but then Vis Lit fails to load. I then have to uninstall and reinstall it again. Can anyone tell me why the latest software update fails to load?

Finding and Using Seasonal Material

In the VL Live content update published on 26th November, we have concentrated on two things:

completing the publication of all the liturgical elements in Common Worship: Times and Seasons
Making seasonal content from Times and Seasons easier to find.

We've put a lot of work into "tagging" (or indexing) this material in two ways, so that you can find it easily in the VL Live browser. Firstly, we've tried to be more thorough and consistent in using the helpful coding scheme that features in the book. So, if you already have a Times and Seasons book, and you can see an item that you want to use in VL, you can search for it using the codes. For example, the Kyrie Confessions for Epiphany on pages 121-122 of Times and Seasons are items B1-B4 in the Epi section of the book. So you can find them by searching for CW TS Epi. And you can find the fourth one by searching for CW TS Epi B4.

Try this principle to find any coded item in Times and Seasons - search for CW TS followed by the section and item. Use the Red section code from the top of each page, and the red item code to the left of the item you need.

But we've also made it easier to find material in more general searches. Try searching for Advent, for example, or Christmas, and you'll see that the material is now a lot more consistent in its labelling. We hope it's easier for you to find and manage; what do you think?

Lectionary Planner - can I save other than as .vlr file??

[i]I am trying to inform our administrator of the lectionary so that she can complete our Readers list for the coming months - I have been doing it myself up to now, but now have a volunteer to take it over. However, I cannot give her details of the lectionary without printing it out fully and handing it over, so that she can then type it in to her computer. She doesn't have VL, and it seems something of an expense to buy it for her just so that she can do a Readers List. Is there any way I can save it in WinWord or RTF, or anything that is readable by a non-VL programme?

I'd be grateful if somone could tell me how to get VL to generate NRSV readings that don't include the verse numbers. I can see how get it to produce the readings as 'block text', but not how to generate verse-number-free readings. Any thoughts?

Usage reports for hymns

Can someone help me to get the box with usage, source etc for hymns back? I can get the text by clicking on the hymn, but there are no details in the left hand side of the box where I should be able to get sources, usage report etc.

Services Planner - saving layouts

I have set up two layouts in the services planner as follows:

1. Shows me the roles only for our 8:00 service
2. Shows me the roles only for our 10:00 service

There are different service templates and different roles, so I want to have two separate layouts. Both of them are grouped by location and then by time and then sorted by date.

Whilst in the services planner, I can select a specific time, so that I only see - for example - the 8:00 services. This is fine!

BUT....

Even if I then save the layout, when I come to re-open it, it doesn't remember that I chose only to see one time and still shows me all services.

Have I missed something? Is there a way for the planner to remember that my 8:00 layout should only show me the 8:00 services?

Managing service templates

When using the "Manage Service Templates" option, I get a list of folders, sub-folders and templates within them. The order that they appear in this window is that same order that they appear on the "Create Service" tab.

What I would like is the ability, within "Manage Serviec Templates" to re-arrange the order of these folders and sub-folders. For example, at the moment the three main folders are:
- Alternative Service Book
- Methodist Worship
- Common Worship

I would like to be able to make Common Worship my "top" folder.

Equally, within folders, I would like to be able to re-arrange the sub-folders (for example, making "Frequently used services" the top sub-folder in the Common Worship folder.

Is there anyway that I can do this or do I have to hope for some program update?
