Currently to add personal details to a service, eg a wedding, I export the service to MS Word and replace "N and N" with the correct names. Is there any way to do this from within Visua Liturgy without the change becoming a permanent part of the template?

It's one of those features we've talked about but not yet implemented - replaceable fields in services. You could do it currently by creating in effect a new item for each service, but it is easier just to make the change in Word. This is something we will come back to though; thanks for bringing it up here.
